To be a Christ-centred discipleship community training
for cross-cultural ministry.

Why is this our mission?

We take seriously Jesus' desire for his followers to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Jesus' command is not merely about knowledge, but about obedience. Therefore, we intentionally look to Jesus and allow him to shape and guide Worldview's purpose, embracing the joys and challenges of discipleship, community living, study, discernment and obedience.

Worldview is a safe training ground where we emphasise listening to God's voice through the Spirit, the Bible and community in preparation for work in cross-cultural contexts.

Our Culture

Worldview is a unique place. It is a learning centre, a discipleship community, God's training ground, a mission hub, and a home. Balancing all of these expectation while fulfilling the purpose of your journey to Worldview isn't always an easy task!

Yet a crucial part of the journey is that you grow in your relationship with God. It takes determination to "devote yourself" to a personal time of prayer and mediation in an intensive program. Developing relationships with both trainers and trainees in groups and in times of corporate prayer will also help you towards a life that is centred on God and His will.

Worldview is a multi-cultural community, and we endeavour to share our cultures!

This means trying to understand different cultures and being willing to adapt to each other. It doesn't mean everyone has to become an Australian, but it does mean being sensitive to each other; Australians adapting to other ways of doing things, others adapting to Australians, and an appreciation of our differences in a multicultural environment.

Part of the training at Worldview is to allow God to develop our judgment of what is valuable or important in life. We get this from learning to listen to the Spirit, reading the Bible and learning to apply it in our own life and in our interaction with others within the community. We choose to live together in a manner that reflects godly values.

Discipleship

Core to our desire to live and learn in community is Jesus' example of discipleship. Learning to hear his voice and putting into action what he is asking us to do isn't always easy.

However, a Christ-centred community is a safe place where we can process with others what this obedience to Jesus looks like, often engaging in conversations that foster invitation, challenge and accountability.

Community

This value highlights the significance of our understanding of who God is and our desire to reflect His character. We believe that our best lives are not expressed by living selfishly or prioritising one's values and desires over others. Instead, we follow Jesus' example of embracing others and learning to love in all circumstances.

Worldview's community is not for community's sake. It is a place of training and discipleship. This focus reminds us that this campus is a place of transformation, a stepping stone as trainees' future plans unfold.

Diligence

Diligence speaks about sticking with something that you know is good for you while at the same time being really hard. We recognise that following Jesus is not for the faint-hearted, requiring of us more than we thought was possible.

In the midst of struggle, doubts and even pain, diligence gives us permission to say that something is really difficult, knowing that often this is the place where Jesus does his most profound work.

Praxis

At the end of the day, putting what you've learned into practice is the best way to learn. While books and critical reflection pave the way for growth and maturity, applying your learning in a real-life context provides the formation that will last the distance.

Praxis at Worldview is about engaging in the local church community, participating in a short-term mission project and engaging in weekly ministry opportunities, taking into account your interests and gifts.

Where we stand: Our Statement of Faith

Worldview is an evangelical Christian community. We believe in:

One God, creator and sustainer of all things, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth and sinless life, his miracles, his atoning death on the cross for us, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, his work as mediator, and his return in power and glory.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit to transform lives and empower for life and service.
The Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, as originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The sinfulness and guilt of all humanity since the fall, so that every person comes under God’s judgement.
Redemption through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit as essential for salvation.
The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
Resurrection of the dead: those who are in Christ resurrected to a life forever with God and those who are outside of Christ resurrected to final judgement.
The unity in Christ of all believers who make up the Church, his body, which is his witness throughout the world.
